Job Description

The Compliance Manager is a key member of Nordstrom’s legal team supporting various lines of business, including Nordstrom’s Loyalty, Credit and Payments teams. This position will build, manage, mentor, and provide leadership to a team of individual contributors. The team is responsible for supporting business initiatives by helping the business identify options to achieve their goals while maintaining regulatory compliance. To accomplish this, this position applies consumer compliance laws and regulations in the rewards program, credit and debit card business and develops relationships with key business partners and leaders.

** There will be some travel required for this role.

This position will build, manage, mentor, and provide leadership to a team of individual contributors.

A day in the life…

  • Assist with the implementation of the Compliance Management Program
  • Prepare summary reports for partners and internal management that highlight known compliance risks and findings
  • Monitor regulatory activities, regulatory changes, and industry developments to identify new laws, trends and emerging issues that may have an impact on current practices
  • Consult with Legal and business departments to determine applicability of regulatory requirements; assign compliance associates to support business projects and initiatives
  • Advise business units on compliant response plans to identified risks related to all consumer compliance laws and regulations
  • Liaise with bank partners for issue remediation reporting and oversight
  • Assess the materiality and relevance of identified risks and escalate appropriately
  • Manage and develop team of compliance professionals
  • Identify opportunities to enhance compliance knowledge in first line business areas; maintain and develop training plan to support the business
  • Review and advise as to consumer compliance requirements for, and implications of, projects and initiatives, including marketing and advertising campaigns
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to provide compliance support to the business
  • Oversee collateral review process, including reward program and card product (Nordstrom retail, Visa, and debit card) marketing materials and consumer communications prior to implementation for regulatory compliance related matters
  • Support the maintenance and tracking of findings identified by Nordstrom Compliance and Internal Audit, and Bank partner
  • Manage the identification and distribution of applicable regulatory guidance, including proposed and final rules and regulations and other regulatory guidance
  • Support process for all compliance and safety/soundness reviews and exams conducted by Bank partner (all lines of defenses) and/or all applicable regulatory agencies, including responding to any identified findings
  • Oversee the Customer Complaint Program, including written consumer inquiries and complaints received through regulatory agencies, and responses to those complaints
  • Maintain Compliance knowledge base, operating models and guidelines, procedures, and the Compliance Management Program Implementation Guide

You own this if you have…

  • 7+ years’ experience in banking compliance, risk management or audit, or equivalent combination of education, training, certification and experience
  • 3+ years of management experience with a track record of successfully leading, directing and coaching teams
  • CRCM, CAMS, CIA, CPA, etc. preferred
  • Sound technical research skills and ability to communicate complex issues in verbal and written form to any audience
  • Extensive knowledge of Consumer Compliance laws and regulations (e.g. TILA, FDCPA, FCRA, UDAAP, ECOA, Credit Card Act, Dodd-Frank)
  • Track record of success in collaborating on issues as part of a team to find solutions and drive efforts
  • Ability to navigate a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment and successfully deliver results
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to apply technical, business and problem-solving skills to provide audit and consulting services
  • Ability to multi-task and keep multiple projects and issues on track simultaneously, work well under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
  • Experience with Fiserv software applications and reporting using Business Intelligence (BI) tools a plus, e.g., SAS Enterprise Guide, Business Objects, Tableau a plus

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Colorado: $90,000 - $150,000 Annually, Connecticut: $90,000 - $175,000 Annually, Hawaii: $90,000 - $150,000 Annually, Nevada: $90,000 - $150,000 Annually, New York: $90,000 - $187,500 Annually, Rhode Island: $90,000 - $150,000 Annually, Washington: $90,000 - $175,000 Annually This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses.
