Description of Job
The salary for this position is:
$32.74 - $38.68 Hourly
$2,619.23 - $3,094.62 Biweekly

The Compliance Unit of Audits, Compliance and Enforcement (ACE) in the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Division, exists to receive, identify and investigate compliance violations, including Retaliation and Interference. This unit consists of investigators who ensure employers are participating in the program as required by law and not engaging in any prohibited activities (such as retaliation or interference), and ensure that employees are entitled to the benefits claimed, per the statute. This unit will conduct thorough investigations (including interviewing parties and witnesses, reviewing documents, records, reports and other evidence), and will prepare, write and present investigative reports.
This position is responsible for conducting investigations of potential violations of the FAMLI Act. This position ensures that all investigations follow the approved process, are lawfully and objectively conducted, are thorough in gathering all material facts and present an accurate accounting of the issues. This position requires analyzing complaints, planning
and conducting investigations (including such activities as determining what evidence is needed and gathering it, locating and interviewing witnesses and suspects, verifying the authenticity of documents, examining financial books and records), and assessing the severity of the violation. As a result of the investigation, this position is responsible for
writing reports of findings, creating exhibits for hearings, serving as a witness for the Division, and recommending administrative sanctions with justifications for those recommended actions.
This position will need to individualize each case, depending on the facts of the case.
This position determines individual case priority, and timeframes for completion of individual investigations. This position uses sound judgment and resourcefulness to interpret circumstances and establish guidelines that direct the individual investigations.
This position is a work leader who provides specialized knowledge regarding investigations, and will conduct more complex investigations. This position will also assist Compliance Investigator I team members in investigations and train/mentor Compliance Investigator I team members.
Additionally, this position acts as a subject matter expert (SME) in FAMLI, CDLE, and unit policies and procedures, as well as conducting complex investigations in all areas of compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Substitutions:Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.
AND
Two years of professional investigation experience in compliance, financial, insurance, medical and/or human resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work leader, supervisor, team leader
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • SCCE (Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics) Certification
  • Performing duties similar to those assigned to the position as a classified State of Colorado employee.
