LOCATIONS: Bangor or Augusta, Maine
This position is responsible for conducting compliance check inspections on tobacco retailers and for collecting all data necessary to determine a retailer's compliance with FDA regulations on the sale of tobacco. The Inspector/Agent will be paired with a Supervisor/Chaperone and a Youth/minor to conduct undercover tobacco compliance inspections. This requires coordinating schedules, driving to retail locations, observing as the Youth/Minor attempts to purchase tobacco products, collecting evidence, issuing citations when needed, and completion of brief narratives and reports.
Responsibilities:
Perform regular inspections of tobacco retailers and complete compliance check inspection forms
Prepares narrative report revealing potential compliance issues or violations
Collects evidence of violations, such as photographs and testimonies
Facilitates undercover purchases in coordination with trained minors
Conduct follow-up inspections for compliance and for complaints
Perform other inspection tasks as required
Adhere to strict regulations regarding the performance of inspections and working with minors
- Must be currently employed as health, food, or drug officers/employees of the State, Territory, or their political subdivisions on Maine
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in Law Enforcement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience performing, or inspections and compliance checks.
