Responsibilities:
Join our pioneering team at one of the automotive industry's most respected heavy truck manufacturers, located in the dynamic city of Portland, OR. We are seeking a dedicated Compliance Engineer to play a pivotal role in our engineering team. This position offers the unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of regulatory compliance within the automotive sector. You will be instrumental in ensuring our cutting-edge products not only meet but exceed industry standards. Engage with a diverse range of engineering disciplines, from Chassis to Mechatronics, and expand your expertise through varied experiences and knowledge sharing. Your role will be crucial in liaising with engineers to gather and verify certification documents, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position demands a keen understanding of regulatory language, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively between engineering and testing teams. This position has the option to extend in duration past 1 year and convert to a permanent employee.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering-related fields, Legal/Compliance, or a Science discipline.
Professional Experience:
- 2-4 years in a role demanding expertise in managing and interpreting technical documents, particularly in relation to regulatory compliance.
- Minimum of 1 year in the automotive sector, with hands-on experience with vehicles or engines.
Technical Proficiency:
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with heavy-duty vehicles, including a solid understanding of the relevant emission and safety standards
Regulatory Expertise:
- Ability to comprehensively read, analyze, and summarize complex regulatory language.
- Experience with IMACS is advantageous, along with knowledge of vehicle specifications.
Professional Skills:
- At least 4 years of experience in effectively utilizing data management systems.
- Proven track record of collaborating with engineers and suppliers to gather, analyze, and update technical reports.
- Competency in legal or compliance-related tasks, with a flair for detailed report writing.

Additional Information:
- Location: Portland OR
- Duration: 1+ year with opportunity to convert to direct.
- Shift: Monday- Friday 8-4 a little flexible but 8 working hours
