This position is for a full-time (40 hrs/wk) Compliance Coordinator to work for EAH Corporate in Kauai. This is a hybrid remote position. Qualified candidates must have one year experience in property management or housing regulatory agency; multi-regional property management experience, preferred; and, either COS (Certified Occupancy Specialist) or CPO (Certified Profession of Occupancy) and TCS (Tax Credit Specialist; SCS – Site Compliance Specialist. Must be able to travel both locally and inter-island to conduct site compliance inspections. Salary range: $22.80 - $34.20 per hour; hiring range for new employees is generally $22.80 -$28.50 per hour, DOE.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Monitors timely submissions of annual recertifications. Provides support at each of the EAH communities with on- site visits and serves as a help desk for compliance issues. Understands and supports EAH’s mission and core values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the completion of annual recertifications and move-in files.
  • Monitors posting of recertification reminder notices.
  • Confirms that all 120, 90, 60 and 30-day notices are sent out on the 1st of each month for each site.
  • Provides compliance-related consultative services to property supervisors, site managers and their administrative staff. Serves as the first point of contact for routine Compliance questions and escalates nonroutine inquiries to more senior Compliance staff.
  • Monitors waiting/transfer lists.
  • Creates digital certification files to be maintained on shared network.
  • Assists the Home Office Compliance Manager with implementation of policies, procedures, and
  • Attends mandatory meetings and trainings.
  • Actively participates in EAH’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to complete compliant annual recertifications for Housing Tax Credits and HUD programs.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team and in a collaborative manner with staff, peers, and supervisor. Must be able to maintain a positive attitude. 
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, and organized, skilled at multitasking, meeting deadlines and producing high quality work.
  • Ability to interpret and understand tenant file information.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, including the ability to provide technical assistance to complex compliance issues in a simple, straightforward manner.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in structures and work priorities. 
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Yardi. 
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of COS and LIHTC (Low Income Housing Tax Credit), HUD, DFEH, and ADA guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Physical Requirements
    1. Able to sit at and work on a computer for extended periods of time.
    2. Must be able to communicate effectively - verbally and in writing. 
    3. Able to travel both locally and inter-island to conduct site compliance inspections. 
  2. Work Environment –
    1. Office location are sites on island, with frequent travel to EAH properties on Oahu and other islands, to review files.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education – High school diploma. 
  2. Experience -
    1. One year experience in property management or housing regulatory agency; multi-regional property management experience, preferred; and, either COS (Certified Occupancy Specialist) or CPO (Certified Profession of Occupancy) and TCS (Tax Credit Specialist; SCS – Site Compliance Specialist.
