About the role
What you need to know:
As a Complex Claim Director, you will be responsible for handling a pending caseload of approximately 120 casualty liability claims of moderate to significant complexity. Primary responsibilities include providing superior customer service, analyzing coverage, preparing coverage position letters, managing litigation, formulating / documenting claim handling and resolution strategies and working closely with counsel to evaluate losses and reach cost effective claim resolutions.
Additional Responsibilities include:
• This position involves determining the scope and extent of available coverage. Re-evaluate coverage as warranted.
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication with insureds, brokers and underwriters. Make regular and appropriate contact with internal and external customers. Give guidance to insured and/or broker to manage expectations.
• Prepare and execute investigation strategies which identify critical issues effecting liability, causation and damages and consider opportunities for third-party contribution.
• Obtain the appropriate authority to independently negotiate moderate to high severity complex commercial auto/GL claims with the top plaintiff attorneys nationwide. Document evaluation, thought process, and strategy. Utilize ADR as appropriate and necessary.
• Effectively strategize and budget the litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors and insureds. Establish with defense and coverage counsel clear ground rules in order to maintain financial control of budget and expenses.
What we're looking for:
• 5+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience
• Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills
• Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management, including ADR and mediation processes, involving auto/GL exposures
• Experience attending and controlling cases at mediations/settlement conferences, pre suit, post suit, pre trial and post trial.
