Frost Brown Todd LLP, a national law firm with 1000+ legal and business professionals in sixteen markets, is currently searching for an experienced Competitive Intelligence Analyst to join our firm. This individual will be responsible for supporting firm-wide business and client development initiatives through actionable company, industry, and market research analysis. As part of our Data and Innovation team, Knowledge and Research Services partners with Legal Project Management and Data Strategy to deliver data and services that benefit our internal and external clients. The Competitive Intelligence Analyst works closely with Practice and Industry Group Leaders, the Marketing/Business Development team, and Firm leadership to support the Firm’s strategic business objectives.
The Competitive Intelligence Analyst can be located or work remotely in any of our markets. In-person interaction with other FBT personnel, clients and/or representatives at the worksite and occasional travel to office locations is required.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting in-depth, high-level research on companies, competitors, sectors, trends, and geographic markets to support business development and strategic growth of the firm.
- Summarizing, analyzing, and synthesizing large amounts of data into clear and concise reports, and providing actionable information to aid decision making around business opportunities, prospective clients, client retention, profitability, and growth.
- Identifying practice and industry trends with an eye for recognizing new business opportunities.
- Monitoring news and litigation resources for insight on key clients, competitors, industries, and geographic markets.
- Acting as the liaison between the firm and The Smart Cube to communicate the firm’s market and industry reporting needs, turning The Smart Cube output into usable and actionable information, and tuning the analysis with internal data.
- Staying current on changes in the legal industry and communicating any potential impact on the firm's clients and strategic vision.
- Developing Competitive Intelligence best practices and templates to produce a consistent and outstanding work product.
- Assisting with strategic projects and ad hoc business, market, deal, or competitor research, with deadlines ranging from an hour to multiple weeks.
- Evaluating and recommending research tools and technologies based on value and effectiveness.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field.
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or a Master’s in Business Administration.
- Minimum of three (3) years Competitive Intelligence or market research experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing data analysis.
- Proficiency with Foundation Firm Intelligence a plus.
- Proficient in utilizing resources including, but not limited to Westlaw Edge, Hoovers D & B, PitchBook, Monitor Suite, Bloomberg; and mining internal data in CRMs, business intelligence and financial systems.
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills, with an ability to evaluate and derive understanding from large and complex data.
- Experience working in robust databases and models.
- Ability to effectively and concisely synthesize and present information in a verbal and visual manner.
- Experience with legal and financial processes and concepts.
- Work may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Work may be performed primarily remotely. However, in-person interaction with other FBT personnel, clients and/or representatives at the worksite and occasional travel to office locations is required.
