As a Community ViolencePeer Specialist, you will provide support services for Fairfax Hospital's violence intervention program, dedicated to reducing, re-injuring and mortality rates among members of the community by providing intentionally injured patients with support during their stay in the hospital and beyond.
Job Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Manager, you will provide hospital and community-based services to patients who have experienced intentional violent injury through assessment, crisis intervention, and counseling
- Will assist with hospital and community providers to participate in connecting and referring patients to appropriate services.
- Serves as a positive role model to intentionally injured patients.
- Maintain resource information to provide to connections.
- Offer emotional support to patients who have experienced similar traumas.
- Will provide accompaniment for victims of violent crime within the hospital, criminal justice system, and other systems as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Zero (0) - Two (2) years' experience as a Community Health Educator working in the community or clinical setting; knowledge of community resources and patient engagement or
- Two (2) years' experience in lieu of degree/certification.
Education:
- Associates Degree/Certification in pertinent field.
