Community Health Worker - Somali Speaking

Job Summary:

As an outreach staff member, you will play an important role in strengthening the Beautywell Project’s connection with the community. This position involves increasing community engagement, increasing engagement in our programs and initiatives, and ensuring awareness among community members on subjects such as colorism, skin lightening, and chemical exposure. The individual hired for this position will closely work with Somali salons in Minnesota to engage them and help their health and well-being. Also, work with the salons to provide capacity building and help them use safer and more sustainable products.

Position Responsibilities:

● Strengthen the relationship between an organization and the community

● Increase community engagement with programs and initiatives

● Engage and outreach to Somali salons

● Ensure community members and partners know vital programs and initiatives.

● Organizing outreach campaigns and coordinating events

● Coordinate events that align with Beautywell’s goals and the interests and needs of the community

Qualifications

● High School Diploma or equivalent or Community Health Worker certificate

● Experience working with diverse populations.

● Community health outreach experience preferred.

● Verbal and written communication skills include translating complex and technical subjects to the public in easy-to-understand ways.

Conditions of Employment

● Regular and predictable attendance is required

This will be a contract position.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $21.28 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
