FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH - OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY
Your Specific Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include those functions and tasks of supervising a school health COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING program and contract management. The responsibilities include: supervising the activities of COMMUNITY HEALTH nurses, managing the contract for performance of school health services with Marion County Public Schools, providing program direction, and oversight of COMMUNITY HEALTH nurse activities. This role independently assesses the School Health program for the Department of Health in Marion County in conjunction with the Marion County School Board. Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Public Health Services Manager - SES. The incumbent is expected to work within the chain of command for additional direction, feedback or information as needed.

SUPERVISION AND ADMINISTRATION
Provides general supervision and coordination for the School Health program. Communicates on a regular basis with staff both individually and in staff meetings to maintain quality of services. The primary duty of the employee is to communicate with, coach, train, and evaluate employees, plan and direct their work, and interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and making further recommendations as necessary. Orients and trains personnel new to the program. Reviews/approves timesheets for staff. Develops policies and procedures as needed and assures policies and procedures are being followed by monitoring services. In cooperation with Marion County Public Schools (MCPS), completes the Annual School Health Report and the School Health Services Plan and ensures that the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) meets per requirement. Keeps accurate records of services provided for evaluating the overall effectiveness of the program. Compiles and completes other reports or forms as directed. Serves as the School Health Coordinator and liaises frequently with MCPS counterpart to meet state and local School Health plan and needs.
CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
Monitors performance and reporting of school health duties per the contract for school health services with Marion County Public Schools. Will become a certified contract manager. Responsible for data collection and reporting for program contracts and/or grants. Meets regularly with the MCPS School Health services team and collaborates with district staff at all levels ensuring implementation of school health program.
HEALTH SCREENINGS AND IMMUNIZATIONS
Works with staff to ensures MCPS health screenings are recorded and reported in the appropriate manner and that private school immunizations are reported to state officials. Provides training in proper screening technique/performance if DOH requested to provide private school health screenings.
BUDGET
Prepares the L4 Budget for School Health and assures it's entered and presented without delays during the annual budget review. Monitors the budget monthly in FIRS, and, assists with course corrections to keep the School Health budget within no more than a 3% over or under budget expenditure. Creates and/or approves purchasing requests.
PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT
Acts as consultant in matters regarding the fulfillment of the local School Health Services Plan and Compliance with Florida Statutes pertaining to School Health. Provides assistance to school health staff in the field when needed.
SPECIAL NEEDS SHELTER SUPPORT & STAFFING
Participates in Special Needs Shelter registry verification and nursing phone triage. Works at assigned location during shelter activation.
MISCELLANEOUS
Attends all required or assigned staff meetings, in-services and training programs. Maintains and improves professional knowledge and skills by attending staff meetings, workshops, seminars and other professional training programs. Keeps abreast of information pertinent to this program by reading current literature and articles from professional magazines. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum -
Current Florida Registered Nursing License
Supervisory experience in a clinical setting
Preferred -
Prior Experience within the Department of Health
Experience with staff training and development
Education regarding and / experience working within an ICS structure.
Experience managing contracts or partnerships.
Experience working in school health
