We are hiring for Community Engagement Specialists to serve Vance and Granville Counties.
The Community Engagement Specialist position is a part-time position (up to 19 hours/ week) responsible for planning and facilitating programs for girls in communities throughout Vance and Granville Counties.
This position requires face-to-face in-person engagement within the Vance, Granville County area.
Community Engagement Responsibilities:
- Provide direct delivery of Girl Scout Community Engagement Program opportunities to girls within a specified area.
- Ensure registration paperwork for girls participating is properly completed and submitted to appropriate administrative staff in a timely manner and maintain accurate recordkeeping systems.
- Establish a plan to achieve stated recruitment, re-engagement, and development goals for membership served through Community Engagement (outreach) programs.
- Promote and provide support for Council fundraising efforts and initiatives amongst membership served through community outreach, including but not limited to mobilizing participation in the Fall Product Sale and the Annual Cookie Sale Program.
- Utilize strong human relations and communications skills to market program activities to girls, volunteers, and the community, while cultivating the interest and support of community leaders, institutions, and business organizations.
- Work in partnership with the Membership team members to develop a viable plan for re-engaging membership initially served via our engagement outreach program in an effort to transition girls into traditional troops or more sustainable program options.
- Ensure post-assessment surveys are completed by participants during the final session of a program series or program year.
- Actively support and promote the Council's and GSUSA's commitments to diversity throughout the organization by ensuring that recruitment efforts reach out to all racial/ethnic groups and provide equal access.
- Professionally handles interactions with the community and/or school employees through modeling appropriate behavior, problem-solving, and providing support.
Requirements
- High School degree and/or equivalent experience in a related field. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Commitment to the mission and goals of Girl Scouting and the ability to become a member of GSUSA required.
- Ability to work with volunteers and community contacts from diverse backgrounds and to build effective volunteer leadership teams.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities meet deadlines produce results, and detail oriented.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel throughout the assigned region.
- Must have access to a car in working order and the ability to travel; proof of meeting North Carolina state requirements regarding vehicle registration and inspection, driver's license, and liability insurance.
- Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance. Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
- Must be able to occasionally lift or move a minimum of 25 pounds.
