Since the earliest days, Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc. has been building positive connections with our 12,000 square miles of communities. We are most effective when partnering with our region’s volunteers. This allows us to provide the most meals to those in need and supply the most supplies to those who teach.
We are seeking to fill our Community Engagement Coordinator position, in our Programming Department. The position will collaborate with a team of professionals and volunteers working together to develop and implement comprehensive strategies focused on stewarding, creating, and managing community and volunteer relationships, that support SHSG’s mission to end hunger in South Georgia.
This position will focus on engaging volunteers, implementing food and fund drive activities and volunteer events utilizing all resources. Additionally, this position is charged with maintaining and hosting SHSG’s Teachers' Harvest, providing a well-stocked, organized, and welcoming, no-cost, school supply, shopping experience for our 26-county, public teachers.
Monday-Friday; full-time, exempt; some weekend and evening work required for meetings, special events and out-of-town engagements.Responsibilities:
- Manage community partnerships to include stewardship, proposal development, food and fund drive requests and all associated engagement activities.
- Coordinate events related to food and fund drives and special events that have a food/fund drive focus. Events include, but are not limited to, the Stamp Out Hunger, Georgia Accounting Food Fight and the Legal Food Frenzy.
- Strategically cultivate volunteerism and engage with individuals, churches and community organizations to maintain a consistent rotation of opportunities for each to serve in the fulfillment of SHSG’s mission to end hunger in South Georgia.
- Use verbal and written communication to educate and engage the public through public speaking opportunities, tours, and outreach and awareness events.
- Supervise volunteers from beginning to the end of tasks/assignments and show/share responsibility for the overall volunteer experience at SHSG.
- As it pertains to volunteer participation, oversee planning, safety, procurement, set-up, execution, and communication in conjunction with operations team.
- Offer ongoing support for development team projects.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership team of Second Harvest of South Georgia
Requirements:
- Proven ability to work in a professional team environment.
- MS Office 360 Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher proficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Skills in computer applications i.e. word processing and database management.
- Good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to organize work, time, and self.
- Skills in problem-solving and trouble-shooting situations.
- Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines along with an appreciation of how this affects other members of the team.
Physical Demands:
While performing duties of this job, the employee may be required to do the following when working in the office, warehouse or remote site environments:
- The employee must, at times, lift and/or move up to 20 pounds when handling donations, documents and files in a mixed office, warehouse or remote site setting.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision while working with documents, computer screens, and filing.
- Regularly required to talk and hear when communicating with employees, donors, and clients.
- The use of hands and fingers are necessary to handle or feel documents and keyboards.
