Community Engagement Assistant

SUMMARY

The Community Engagement Assistant will support all aspects of the Volunteer & Community Engagement (VCE) Department. This position will be responsible for supporting the acquisition, coordination, and distribution of all donations and requests. Supports the team in volunteer outreach and maintenance to build capacity for the organization as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Assists in the coordination, organization, and distribution of all in-kind donations while partnering with program and operations staff across all CII hub sites (Echo Park, Watts, Long Beach) to process in-kind requests.
2. Assists with in-kind inventory and storage management.
3. Records, quantifies, and tracks all in-kind donations that contribute to the organization’s income.
4. Collaborates with programs to collect client impact stories and supporting materials to share with the CII donor community and the External Affairs team.
5. Creates and distributes acknowledgment letters to donors.
6. Contributes to creating in-kind distribution events for internal and external audiences.
7. Assists with volunteer and in-kind training and presentations.
8. Maintains CII in-kind donation online registries.
9. Assists with all Community Engagement efforts, including, but not limited to holiday programs, back-to-school efforts, and responsive programming.
10. Supports in-kind donor stewardship and solicitation as requested.
11. Maintains a working knowledge of in-kind operating procedures; participates in streamlining and documenting procedures as appropriate.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

1. Provides staffing support at select community and program events and meetings, some evening and weekend work may be required.
2. Supports the distribution of in-kind flex funding to clients.
3. Assists with volunteer outreach and maintenance as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Minimum one year of experience in a clerical/administrative or sales experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of baby and children’s essential products experience preferred
• Strong data entry and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and community partners.

• Valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.
• Spanish / English bilingual preferred.

• This position requires 50% travel.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Maintains patient privacy, including protecting confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.
• Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated roles and responsibilities.
• Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
• Understands CII’s basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.

COMPENSATION:

• Hourly hire rate: $21.32
• In accordance with CA law, the expected pay range for this CA position is posted with this position.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
