The Support Services functions at S:US are carried out by a team of professionals with differing backgrounds who believe deeply in the S:US mission. S:US is seeking a Communications & Marketing Manager to support S:US’ internal and external communications. Are you an entrepreneurial, self-starter who loves tackling important issues that many New Yorkers are facing in terms of housing, behavioral health, food security, and more with a great team? Do you deeply understand how marketing and communications channels can be leveraged to tell compelling stories and move audiences to act? The salary range for this position is $65,000 -$70,000. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule .
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Creation across platforms
- Establish and maintain collegial working relationships with programs and support services departments to identify compelling S:US stories, announcements, and expertise for content development.
- Identify, create, and package stories of recovery, resilience, and success from within S:US for content across platforms and for pitches to media.
- Manage the creation and production of print and digital materials, such as advertisements, flyers, brochures, banners, and posters, for distribution to program participants and the public.
- Design and create collateral materials as needed for fundraising purposes, public/community relations efforts, sponsorship ads, and internal events.
- Develop and produce new videos that showcase the S:US story for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the work of the Communications & Marketing Director as well as the Development & External Affairs Department as needed.
Digital and Print
- Directly monitor and update content on the S:US website to reflect compelling stories, updates, and announcements.
- Manage day-to-day social media engagement including content creation (graphic design and writing) and gathering analytics.
- Plan, write, design, and distribute monthly external emails to funders and supporters for awareness, marketing, or fundraising purposes; manage subscriber email lists and use analytics to monitor engagement.
- Support Development & External Affairs Department in the creative promotion of proposals and events.
Internal Communications
- Oversee the organization’s intranet by posting all staff email announcements, events, updates, documents, and performing daily maintenance.
- Assist in the planning and management of internal communications efforts to ensure the S:US culture is supported and promoted.
- Compose and edit staff emails and announcements, design flyers and event invitations, and create digital graphics.
- Attend and report on S:US events; take photos as needed.
KEY PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Organize and build systems to keep yourself organized and track numerous details on different platforms.
- Technically fluent with tools such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft SharePoint, WordPress, Constant Contact, Google Analytics, Social Media Analytics, and design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
- Understands digital communications including email, text, and social media campaigning.
- Tactically familiar with most aspects of digital campaigns, including social media, online advertising, email marketing, mobile strategy, digital analytics, web video, social listening, and web design.
- Ability to multi-task to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while paying close attention to details.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with people served by S:US and staff, appreciating their social, cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds and their age, gender, and abilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s Degree in media and marketing, communications, English, journalism, or any related field.
- Three to five years of experience working on marketing and communications campaigns, preferably in nonprofit, public affairs, media relations, journalism, issue advocacy, or a related field.
- Submit resume, cover letter, and three work samples that illustrate the breadth of your writing capabilities across multiple channels (e.g., website, internal comms, social media, newsletter, etc.)
