Job Description
If you like communicating with people, actively utilize social media for Business, have a flair for creative marketing, and if you would like to further develop your skills, this job is for you! This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of all Chamber marketing strategies, communications, advertising, and PR activities working closely with the President. This position is designed to be an entry to mid-level position, however other levels will be considered. Please note 70% of this job will be creative marketing with 30% working with visitors, members and misc tasks. You will be part of a team and as such, you will wear many hats!
Responsibilities
• Chamber’s “Staff Reporter”, gathering facts, interesting stories, and promoting Members
• Coordination and production of member email blasts and general membership communications
• Develop and maintain member services materials, visitor/relocation map, and Member Directory
• Production and maintenance of the Chamber’s electronic marketing and informational pieces, including e-blasts, e-news blogs, and creative social posts.
• Ability to demonstrate proficient utilization of the internet, including current & emerging social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc)
• Take photographs and video, in horizontal and vertical formats, for use in materials and social.
• Administrator for organization website and database/web management program via ChamberMaster, and WordPress sites
• Shooting and editing video for promotion of businesses, tourism and events.
• Write and/or edit press releases to promote Members, Mount Dora Tourism & Chamber Events
• Develop and maintain complete media lists and implement plans to reach focused influencers
Desired Background, skills, and abilities:
• Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Constant Contact, ChamberMaster, WordPress, and Adobe Creative Suite, Professional video editing via Final Cut Pro/Premier
• Excellent listening and strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of Mount Dora & Lake County (or willingness to learn) to communicate “what to do” to visitors.
• Assist with answering phones/walk-in customers as needed
Preferred by not required:
• Experience working with volunteers
• Experience working with not-for-profit organizations
• Knowledge of Mount Dora
Additional Responsibilities:
Other tasks as requested by the chamber president. Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
Work Hours:
Generally, 5 days a week, due to the nature of the position a portion of the employee’s time will be outside the normal 9 to 5. Flexible availability is a requirement for this position. (including nights, weekends, and holidays on occasion)
Physical Demands:
This is continual light work and occasional heavy work. Could require walking and standing for extended periods, frequent stooping, bending and reaching, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds. Work may be performed in adverse environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
