The Mayor’s Office has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Digital Communications
Associate.
Summary:
The Mayor’s Office of Communications is seeking a dedicated and creative Communications Associate to support the work of the broader communications team as they communicate the Mayor’s Office vision and work on behalf of residents across Baltimore. The Digital Communications Specialist reports to the Director of Communications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Drafting written materials like press releases, newsletters, media advisories, social media posts, event briefings, and others
- Compiling daily news clips
- Assisting in managing daily press inquiries
- Assisting in maintaining the Mayor’s Office website
- Assisting in coordinating and executing media events like press conferences, groundbreakings, forums, town halls, public meetings, and others
- Staffing Mayor and senior administration officials at public events
- Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the communications office.
Required Knowledges, Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional writing and verbal communications skills, with experience in political writing preferred
- Exceptional writing skills, interpersonal skills, media knowledge required;
- Detail-oriented mindset and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment
- Familiarity with digital communications platforms, including social media, email marketing, website content management systems, and analytics tools preferred
- Effective teamwork skills and the ability to support the needs of multiple team members and leaders in the office required
- Knowledge of current media trends and news cycles
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
