Overview
The Up to 3 Early Intervention program in the Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice at Utah State University is an in-home pediatric program in northern Utah which strives to provide quality, evidence-based therapy services in a nurturing & supportive natural environment.
We are looking for a dynamic, creative and committed Communication Specialist (Teacher, Early Intervention) to join our interdisciplinary therapy team comprised of speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavior analysts, child development specialists, behavior technicians, vision and hearing therapists as well as autism specialists. The successful applicant will provide individual services to children under the age of 3 with developmental delays/disabilities and their families.
The department will be hiring for either one full-time or two part-time (between 50% to 100% time) benefited positions depending on the program needs and candidates selected.

Responsibilities
  • Assess language, cognitive-communication, and social communication of children under three years
  • Coach parents on strategies to improve speech, language, cognitive-communication and social communication in their toddlers
  • Develop and implement Individualized service plans
  • Instruct parents in small groups to implement evidence-based practice
  • Collaborate with other disciplines as needed
  • Adhere to university travel and driving policies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • If required, maintenance of appropriate professional affiliation(s) needed to supervise undergraduate and graduate students during practicum, student teaching, and internships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license in order to visit families
  • Job offer contingent upon successfully passed background check

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders
  • One year experience or educational equivalent evaluating and teaching young children with developmental delays or disabilities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state license(s) required by Utah Office of Occupational Licensing applicable to the profession

Preferred Qualifications
  • Second Language (Spanish)
  • Baby Watch Early Intervention Credential
  • Live in Cache County or Box Elder County

Funding Statement
The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee-for-service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
