Job description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Experience in Electrical Equipment commodity management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a technical or engineering field or MBA.
  • Experience with large-scale industrial engineering and construction programs, with data centers.
  • Knowledge of international requirements, currency, tax, codes, and logistics challenges.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, translating to relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.

About the job

The Global Commodity Management team is focused on Technical Infrastructure and is responsible for sourcing, procurement, and supplier management functions for data center power and cooling equipment. You will partner closely with Data Center Engineering and Construction teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you will use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global, and growing infrastructure.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000-$154,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commodity strategies through close collaboration with Google engineering and commodity teams.
  • Conduct detailed agreement negotiations, including comprehensive agreements, and ensure capacity planning and supply chain strategies are implemented to meet On Time Delivery.
  • Drive RFP/RFI/RFQs and lead cross-functional teams with supplier selection process. Define cost drivers, develop cost models and establish should cost analysis.
  • Serve as internal point of contact for all ongoing remediation and quality improvement programs, define multi-year research and development (R&D) efforts and implement supply chain and supply base improvements.
  • Implement supply chain improvements, driving supply base improvement with supplier metrics and regular business reviews.
