Our client, a major Oil & Gas Company is seeking a Commissioning Coordinator IV to work in Houston, TX within their facilities for an initial 1-year contract (possibility to extend).
Accountabilities:
- Coordinate field commissioning activities for small, medium, and large company’s projects through the management of either 3rd party specialized contractors or internal company’s Technicians.
- Provide expertise to project teams in the development of comprehensive commissioning and start-up resource and execution plans (resource loading, cost estimates, precedence, and critical path schedules, etc.) required to effectively and efficiently support the Liquid Pipelines and Gas Pipeline portfolio of projects.
- Assure assigned commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with established safety, environmental, and operational requirements while ensuring that project scope, schedule, cost, and quality expectations are effectively managed.
- Manage issues identified through the commissioning phase of projects and use technical expertise to resolve these issues.
- Assure the seamless transition of newly constructed assets from a non-energized state to energized, safe and reliable to operate.
- Assure all essential equipment testing records required for operational life/permanent retention are secured, reviewed, and transitioned to permanent archives.
- Advise and mentor Commissioning Coordinator Level 1 employees and contractors.
- Prepare and manage project cost estimates and budgets for internal and external resources required for commissioning and startup services.
- Understand and apply all company’s commissioning processes and procedures and assist with their development and continual improvement.
- Ensure equipment is properly turned over from construction to commissioning through detailed walkthroughs and deficiency tracking.
- Assure detailed commissioning specifications, inclusive of all vendor/manufacturer manuals are assembled by the project consultant and utilized by field commissioning personnel.

- Technical strategies, field direction and decisions relative to company’s standards, code and/or regulatory compliance, conformance with engineered designs and/or equipment manufacturer specifications can directly affect pipeline integrity and reliability as well as the safety of contractors, company personnel, the public, the environment, and the long-term operations of our assets.
- Has strategic accountability to nurture and sustain effective relationships and performance by field services contractors.
Requirements:
- A technical school diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering Technology is preferable. Other combinations of trade and technical education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 10+ years progressive experience in construction and commissioning within the industrial sector.
A technical and working knowledge of design and construction codes such as NEC, CEC, CSA Z662, AEUB, NEB, etc. is required. - Highly effective interpersonal skills with proven ability to independently lead and/or coordinate work with diverse groups and individual personalities as appropriate (project team, internal and external stakeholders, customers, and contractors)
