 Job Summary:                                                                                                         

Assists Production Manager in managing all production, efficiency  & productivity of the manufacturing plant across multiple shifts, departments and line assemblies, to manufacture products that meet established quality, customer service, safety, sanitation, innovation and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies; implements work standards and maintains improvement through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor, oversees the production of quality products to fulfill customer requirements; controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, labor and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to maximize efficiency; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability. This position reports directly to the production Manager and will work under limited supervision. Accountable for all efficiency & productivity matrixes of the Production facility, including food safety,cost of goods, labor cost, operational cost. This position leads by example. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ·       Assists Production Manager in implementing daily production scheduling of entire facility.
  • ·       Under the direction of Production Manager, works in specific areas, prep rooms or assembly lines as designated by production Manager.
  • ·       Responsible for the safety and well-being of plant associates.
  • ·       Responsible to oversee internal infrastructure of Plant and takes decisive corrective action when required.
  • ·       Responsible for keeping the work area or assembly line in optimum sanitation condition and ensures that all SOP’s, HACCP & SSOP’s are executed as planned.
  • ·       Ensures that the Food Safety & Quality Assurance programs are executed and ensures that Plant operates at optimum conditions according to GFSI regulations & industry standards.
  • ·       Implements and executes the manufacturing process and acts as the process executioner in all Plant’s areas.

  • ·       Is an active participant in the facility senior management team and has ownership of plant performance as one of the leaders of the team.
  • ·       Assists production manager in all warehousing, shipping, and receiving of raw materials and finished goods and ensures that all receiving and shipping happens according to plan.  
  • General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • ·       Ensures all processes meet customer’s specification requirements and minimizes risk to the company.
  • ·       Leads small production groups of associates in the safe manufacturing of food, as per direction of Production Manager.
  • ·       Responsible for maintaining a qualified and productive staff to meet and/or exceed the expected level of performance and demands of management and customers.
  • ·       Implements and executes a continuous improvement methodology directed at improving performance in the departmental areas assigned, including productivity, quality, safety, attendance, sanitation, yields and cost reduction/control.
  • ·       Responsible for implementing and executing processes for monitoring, measuring, and reporting key performance initiatives within production, quality, sanitation, maintenance, and warehouse departments.
  • Assists in the optimization of new product development through the standardization of materials and process to insure repeatability. Consistently apply all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation and execution of Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP’s).
  • Monitor production lines and all food preparation for optimum performance while conforming to product Standard Manufacturing Practices (SMP’s).
  • Ensures effective communications between all departments, i.e., Quality Control, warehousing, human resources, sanitation, maintenance, etc.
  • Directs and coordinates with team members, (i.e., supervisor and operators) all product changeovers.
  • Communicates / coordinates staffing and training requirements with Production Manager for labor scheduling, forecasting, and reduction in force requirements, ensuring operating requirements are met effectively and efficiently promotes and maintains positive relationships among all levels of management and associates.

  • Beginner’s management and leadership skills to orchestrate basic projects.
  •  Good knowledge on Food manufacturing & processing.
  •  Understand the ability to work and manage production lines with hands on, on the floor style of management.
  •  Ability to understand and effectively communicate the daily production requirements as to product type(s), finishes and distribution of product between kitchen, Carniceria, dried packing and cold process operations
  •  Ability to establish and use metrics and continuous improvements processes to drive up performance.
  •  Must be able to lead, delegate, monitor, and follow up.
  • Must be willing to learn new Supervisory experiences and knowledge of  management and supervisory techniques.
  • Able to resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases.
  • Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high output environment.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to problems and challenges as they are identified and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and follow through in all areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to develop & coordinate project plans / projects and communicate changes and progress effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the department associates, Peers, and Store Management. 
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must be able to lift 30 Lbs. frequently and 40 Lbs. occasionally; stand, reach, climb, and lift frequently.
  •  Must be able to use calculator to perform general mathematical functions.
  • Must be able work with others and coordinate production with co-workers.
  •  Must work with minimum or no supervision.
  • Must have an excellent attendance record, reliable and flexible when seasonal work is occasionally required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2+ years’ demonstrated manufacturing & processing supervisory experience in roles of increasing responsibility demonstrating the ability to achieve results.
  •  High School diploma.

Language Skills:

  •   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to read, write and speak English satisfactorily to perform the essential functions.
  •   Bi-lingual English Spanish highly desirable.

Mathematical Skills:

  •   Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts for formulation and assembly.

Reasoning Ability:

  •   Ability to define problems, collect data. Establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills:

  • Basic knowledge in Word, Excel & Power point.
