Form of workCVIS personnel performs routine inspections of commercial type vehicles to determine compliance with weight, size, registration, safety and equipment requirements. Inspects and tests all types of Commercial Vehicles brake systems for compliance with the vehicle code and other applicable laws and regulations. CVIS personnel prepares accurate, legible inspection report forms documenting all mechanical defects and driver qualification deficiencies, examines driver qualification cards and papers, registration papers, manifest, bills of lading, shipping papers and operates MIS computer to determine compliance. When necessary, refers violations to an enforcement officer for action. They also perform support duties in answering telephones, inquiries from the public and cleaning inspection lanes.

Working Conditions
The CVIS personnel at our facility are assigned to one of two, available eight hour shifts on weekdays. Shift 1 (0545-1415 hours) Shift 2 (1345-2215 hours) to include an unpaid 30 minute lunch period consistent with the Unit 12 contract.
