Description

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

The Commercial Loan Specialist performs the full lifecycle of loan processing for the Commercial Services department.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares accurate COMMERCIAL LOAN document request forms. Transmits forms to identified vendor for document preparation. Thoroughly reviews loan documents for accuracy upon receipt from vendor.
  • Inputs loans into the core system timely and accurately.
  • Prepares release documentation for paid off loans. Works with the Member Records department to archive files upon completion.
  • Obtains updated property insurance certificates for policies nearing expiration or those that have recently expired. Manages the data entry into the core system to reflect updated expiration dates on property insurance, flood insurance, property taxes and financial documentation upon receipt from the borrower or guarantor.
  • Reviews property tax payments with the appropriate county treasurer and communicates status with the assigned loan officer.
  • Uploads and indexes loan documents, insurance, property tax documentation, financial documents and other supporting documentation to the credit union’s document retention system.
  • Creates COMMERCIAL LOAN files to store and retain original versions of signed documents.
  • Records and releases UCCs with the secretary of state.
  • Pulls flood certificates and orders title commitments on loan transactions.
  • Obtains quotes and orders appraisals through approved vendors when assigned by the loan officer. Orders environmental database reports or Phase 1 Inspections, when necessary.
  • Processes invoices, fees collected and disbursal at closing to ensure accurate accounting tracking. Responsible for ensuring receipt of required documentation subsequent to closing, including but not limited to, final title policies, recorded deeds of trusts, and assignment of rents.
  • Monitors loan reports to inform loan officers of pending maturities, loan reviews and missing documentation. Works with loan officers to resolve past due items.
  • Prepares monthly reports to management and the Board of Directors about the COMMERCIAL LOAN portfolio.
  • Meets deadlines as assigned and directed.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills to ascertain dealers’/members’ needs and handle problems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex (i.e. transaction, loan problems).
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Requires the ability to adjust priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to two years credit union or similar industry or dealership experience.
