Commercial Lines Marketing Specialist
Marketing Pod Team Lead, DOO
Gathering all the required information from member agencies for VIAA Marketers to go to Market.
Position Summary
This position serves as the front-line underwriter to ensure the elements of a top of the stack submission when marketing on behalf of an exclusive group of Members on the Commercial Marketing Pod and with AccessPlus when needed. The Marketing Specialist is responsible for working with the members, gathering the appropriate account and/or carrier information for new and remarket requests. The Marketing Specialist is responsible for pre-submissions on carriers the member has direct appointments with, as well as carriers represented by VIAA’s AccessPlus Division. This role not only helps ensure our organization’s standards are consistently met to protect the interests of our client, but also is responsible for building strong relationships with our member agencies, their producers, and VIAA Marketers.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions)
New Business Development
- Works with member agencies and their producers to determine and gather the appropriate information needed to go to market.
- Prepares applications and other submission documents.
- Foster strong relationships with member agencies, their producers, and VIAA Marketers.
- Keeps informed of industry developments through review of trade press and by attending company training meetings on new coverages and products.
New and Renewal Business Application Gathering
- Acknowledges receipt of submission and requests pre-submission additional underwriting needs with our “in by 2, acknowledged by 5” promise.
- Provides proper supplemental applications to the agents.
- Adds accounts to AgencyZoom & TAM (name & address) when Jotform is not used.
- Checks applications in Wunderite and completes applications in QQ for certain members.
- Partner with sales staff. Communicate accurate information and review loss history.
- Provide insight/advice to other team members working submissions on their desks regarding pre-Market process.
Department Responsibilities
- Provides support to both The Marketing Pod and VIAA Access Plus Commercial lines.
- Attend scheduled meetings.
- Pass pertinent carrier information on to department including updating carrier folders in Teams for members & contact information.
- Maintains professional and positive relationship with member agencies, their producers, and VIAA Marketers.
Required Knowledge
- 5+ years insurance industry experience.
- 3+ years of Commercial Lines experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Insurance related professional designation(s) preferred.
Required Skills, Abilities, and Behaviors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of agency workflows and processes.
- Capable of developing and introducing new ideas to enhance work processes and have the initiative to document and carry them through.
- Ability to use agency automation systems and various software programs.
- Ability to perform in a fast paced multitasking environment.
- Ability to evaluate current methods, forecast future needs, develop action plans, and implement processes utilizing creative solutions to problems as they arise. Leadership abilities include the ability to clearly articulate team objectives, as well as to motivate and influence team members generating enthusiasm, flexibility and openness to change.
