Position Function:

The Commercial Compliance Officer ("Commercial CO"):

(a) Oversees, manages, and improves the Bank's Commercial Compliance function in accordance with the Bank's Compliance Management System ("CMS"), for the purpose of ensuring the Bank's compliance with all federal and state laws, rules, and regulations, the Bank's internal policies and procedures, and industry, ethical, or fiduciary practices or standards, as applicable.

(b) Leads and manages the Bank's Commercial Compliance under the direction of the Director of Compliance and the heads of the Commercial Units.

(c) Communicates, promotes and reinforces a strong and proactive culture of compliance.

The CCO will report directly to the EVP/Head of Commercial Markets.

Primary Accountabilities:

The CCO will serve as the Consumer Compliance (“Compliance”) and Bank Secrecy Act (“BSA”) resource for Commercial Markets, to include:

  • Knowledge. Understanding Compliance and BSA regulatory requirements.
  • Advice. Advising Commercial Markets on Compliance and BSA regulatory requirements.
  • Training. Providing training to Commercial Markets on Compliance and BSA regulatory requirements.
  • Policies/Procedures. Developing/maintaining Compliance and BSA policies/procedures for Commercial Markets.
  • Monitoring/Testing. Performing Compliance and BSA monitoring/testing for Commercial Markets.
  • Issues. Assisting with resolving Compliance and BSA issues respecting Commercial Markets.
  • Customer Complaints. Assisting with responding to Compliance and BSA related Commercial Markets customer complaints.
  • Products/Services/Fees. Assist with Compliance and BSA regulatory requirements respecting Commercial Market’s products, services and fees.
  • Vendors. Assist with Compliance and BSA regulatory requirements respecting Commercial Market’s vendors.
  • Bank Compliance Management System. Work with the Bank’s Director of Compliance and Corporate Compliance Department respecting Compliance regulatory requirements pertaining to Commercial Markets.
  • Bank BSA Program. Work with the Bank’s BSA Officer and BSA Department respecting BSA regulatory requirements pertaining to Commercial Markets.
  • Audits/Exams. Support Commercial Markets respecting all Compliance and BSA internal audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Reporting. Prepare reports respecting Commercial Markets’ Compliance and BSA regulatory requirements.
  • Records. Maintain records respecting Commercial Markets’ Compliance and BSA regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university required.

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in business or commercial lending, banking, compliance, audit, examination, or legal experience. Higher level, advanced/graduate degrees may substitute for experience.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform light physical work and to move or lift items including but not limited to boxes, files and papers up to 20 pounds unless otherwise as indicated.
  • Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer and/or other work related mechanical or electronic devices and applications.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
  • Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
  • Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time. Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
