Overview of College Success Coach

 

This posting represents two (2) vacancies
 

Purdue University Northwest is seeking a College Success Coach.  Through coaching and mentoring, the PNW Success Coach is responsible for removing barriers for our underrepresented student population (specifically Black and Latino) to the successful completion of their college journey, and to assist them in setting tailored and measurable academic and personal goals. The Success Coach will provide outreach and intervention services to those students, to reduce time to degree completion. Responsibilities will include planning, developing, and implementing of programming, communications, intervention campaigns, and other strategies to successfully support and engage our targeted  underrepresented student population.
Budgeted Salary:  up to $43,000

Duties and Responsibilities of College Success Coach
  • Mentoring and coaching students to identify and overcome personal or academic obstacles to degree completion.
  • Disseminate and promote information regarding processes related to registration, admission process, financial aid, tutoring, career services, and other related areas, as needed.
  • Assist students in completing and processing scholarship applications, academic appeals, financial aid forms.
  • Refer students to appropriate offices, learning resources and personnel as needed. Works closely with faculty, administration, and related offices on student retention initiatives.
  • Provides intentional workshops/support programs geared towards increasing retention and persistence for our target student population.
  • Proactively reaches out to targeted student populations and maintain current and accurate records documenting individual student progress toward degree requirements.
  • Monitor, track, collect and analyze data and generate quarterly/annual reports of students receiving assistance.
  • Support other Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Divisional initiatives

Education of College Success Coach
  • Bachelor's Degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution
Experience of College Success Coach
  • Two years of experience in student success and retention, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or related areas.
  • Experience creating workshops and programming for youth and adults desirable.
  • Experience in marketing and communications desirable.
  • Experience working with diverse social and cultural groups, and campus organizations desirable. 
Core Competencies of College Success Coach
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail and time management
  • Bilingual preferred
