Newport News, Virginia
For over 100 years, at Riverside Health System, we have made it our mission to care for others as we would care for those we love.
The Riverside Support Services team is now hiring for a temporary, summer intern for assistance with Insurance Verification Smart Phrases project. This paid internship opportunity is available to currently enrolled college students open to a commitment of about 12 hours per week!
Your Impact:
Once implemented, the Smart Phrases / Smart Text project will decrease the amount of time it takes our Insurance Verification team members to document necessary information on accounts and increase their productivity. The intern would use our standardized note template as a starting point, research capabilities on the Epic User Web and work with our iCare team to implement the project.
The goal is to create specific smart phrases for multiple scenarios so we can quickly document required information in Referrals and Auth/Cert, Benefit Collection, Estimates, and Payment section of the IFS. The intern will research recent encounters from specific team members with great documentation to draft smart phrases for self-pay encounters and encounters with insurance. Scenarios to include but not limited to; medical necessity, authorizations initiated over phone or on-line, checking auth status, reaching out to provider practices, auth approval or denials, contacting the patient with estimate amounts, and multiple other follow up scenarios.
What you will do:
- Communicates clearly and provides excellent customer service to all persons accessing Riverside Health System. Promotes ease of access to Riverside services.
- Engages in a team environment, following the RESPECT policies/guidelines. Does not participate in negative discussions with other staff unless it is to eliminate negativism by offering solutions. Assists in the orientation and / or on-boarding of new employees.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Shows professionalism in communicating on the phone and in person. Demonstrates knowledge and support of the mission of RHS policies and interpersonal relations to staff, physicians, customers and other departments.
