Job Title: Collections Specialist I
Department: Student Accounts
Reports to: Supervisor
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (extended
hours when requested)
Location: Hybrid/ Orange Beach, AL
Compensation: $16.00 hourly
Job Summary
Monitor student account records for past due balances and extend customer service internally and externally.
Essential Job Tasks Additional duties may be assigned.
- Researches and communicates via phone/e-mail to student the requested information regarding
account balance.
- Processes payments obtained during daily correspondence.
- Calls and/or e-mails correspondence to customers, as necessary, in order to resolve account
balance, available for phone rotation and online chat.
- Provides proper documentation, contact notes, and follow up needs within the student file.
- Researches and processes customer information relative to student accounts, in a timely manner.
- Provides department backup to accounting tasks, as needed.
- Provides excellent internal and external customer service, regarding student accounts.

Knowledge
- English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language
including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Education & Experience
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
Equipment Used
- Office equipment including computers, telephones, and printers.
- Software used includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, and internal database
software.
- Secure and reliable internet is required for this position.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position and should have an established office with secure and reliable internet when working remotely. The work environment characteristics described here is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. When on campus, the work environment would be within a climate-controlled office setting mostly sedentary with frequent sitting, occasional walking and lifting, and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. Noise level is generally moderate.
