Collections Specialist

Overview:

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Collections Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, proficiency in Excel, and previous experience in collections.

Responsibilities:

Collections Management:

• Initiate contact with customers to negotiate payment arrangements for outstanding debts.
• Utilize various communication channels (phone calls, emails, letters) to reach out to customers and resolve overdue accounts.
• Document all interactions and update account information accurately in the collections system.
• Implement effective strategies to recover outstanding balances while maintaining positive customer relationships.

Customer Service:

• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns related to outstanding accounts promptly and professionally.
• Assist customers in understanding their payment options and resolving any discrepancies or disputes regarding their accounts.
• Ensure all interactions are conducted in accordance with company policies and compliance regulations.

Reporting and Analysis:

• Utilize Excel and other relevant tools to generate reports and analyze collection data.
• Identify trends and patterns in customer payment behavior to optimize collection strategies.
• Prepare regular reports for management review, highlighting key metrics and performance indicators.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with internal teams, including Billing, Accounting, and Customer Service, to resolve issues impacting collections efforts.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the collections process.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in collections or related field is required.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in collections preferred.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of [5] years of experience in collections or a similar role.
