Wage Range: $21.60 - $34.56 per hour

Hybrid in Washington State only

Job Summary:
Responsible for performing all necessary insurance verification and prior authorization functions required to efficiently bill and collect accounts for patient services provided by EvergreenHealth Surgical Center. Will involve developing expertise in the technical procedures related to all forms of insurance verification, claims billing, having knowledge of HCFA 1500, UB-92s and the required data necessary for payment of claims and is required to prioritize work.
Primary Duties:
  • Communicates with patients and physician’s office regarding patient demographic, insurance information and prior authorization.
  • Researches and analyzes patient insurance data for billing and collection purposes.
  • Identifies reimbursement trends in relation to payers, rejections and/or coding and provides recommendation to management for system changes, training needs or other processes for improvement opportunities.
  • Tracks/follows accounts that require special handling and works with Patient Financial Services (PFS) to ensure correct billing, collection and adjustments.
  • Participates in the establishment and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures to ensure a minimum number of claim denials or claims needing re-work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Facilities Contract Payors, HCFA 1500 and UB-92s
  • Data entry experience.
  • Working knowledge of Medical Terminology.
DESIRED for the position:
  • 1 year experience in healthcare billing and collections
