At Coderpie, we are looking for an experienced, responsible, and exuberant coding coach to lead our exhilarating 2024 Summer Coding Camp, tailored to students aged 7-16. We are not just teaching kids to code; we are training the architects of tomorrow’s digital world and creating a community for creative minds to create the next historical applications. This is a seasonal position. At the conclusion of the summer program, successful candidates can be promoted to formal coding coaches for our regular group lessons and private lessons offered in the fall of 2024.

**Compensation**

Compensation: $650 - $900 per week for full-day camps. Pay will be assessed based on qualifications. Additional compensation will be provided for preparing and hosting the open house at the beginning of the camp and the Hackathon event at the end of this summer, in which all campers will participate.

** When and Where**The Summer Camp dates are as follows:

June 24, 2024 - June 28, 2024; July 8, 2024 - July 12, 2024; July 15, 2024 - July 19, 2024; July 22, 2024 - July 26, 2024; July 29, 2024 - August 2, 2024; August 5, 2024 - August 9, 2024; August 12, 2024-August 16, 2024

9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (with an hour lunch break). We will work with you to accommodate your schedule if you prefer half-day camps. Half-day camps will either be 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

You are required to commit to at least a one-week program. You are expected to teach in person at our Ellicott City, Maryland location. Lunch will be served free of charge.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Deliver engaging, hands-on educational experiences.

- Plan weekly full-day or half-day camps.

- Develop and implement interactive lesson plans and camp topics that cater to various ages and abilities.

- Foster a fun, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

- Troubleshoot coding problems and provide constructive feedback to encourage curiosity and persistence.

- Utilize teaching aids and techniques that inspire young learners to explore the boundaries of their imagination.

- Coordinate with fellow tutors and staff to ensure a unified experience that keeps education energetic and cohesive.

**Qualifications**

- Proven experience in teaching programming to kids or relevant youth mentorship preferred.

- Proficiency in Java, Python, Game Design, Javascript/HTML, Scratch, or C++.

- Either hold or pursue a Bachelor’s or higher degree in computer programming, Game Design, or an equivalent field required. Open to candidates (including college students, high school juniors or seniors) with strong programming and teaching experience, regardless of formal degree completion.

- Dynamic presentation skills, with an ability to make complex concepts accessible to children.

- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a knack for storytelling and gamification of education.

- Demonstrated ability to manage classroom dynamics and engage students with varying interests and learning styles.

- Infectious Enthusiasm: we are looking for someone who can instill excitement and a love for learning in every camper.

- A responsible attitude toward health and safety, ensuring a secure environment for all participants.

- Must pass a background check.
