We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Inpatient Coding Auditor to join our team. As a Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately reviewing the medical codes for a hospital's Inpatient Records and audit results for correct data, billing and reimbursement purposes. Your expertise in inpatient DRG medical coding and knowledge of coding regulations will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely claims processing. Experience audting for an academic teaching facility and/or trauma center is a plus.
```Duties```
- Review coded medical records and documentation to and determine correctness of assigned codes
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
- Stay updated on changes in coding systems, regulations, and industry best practices
- Work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate claims submission
- identify coding errors or areas for improvement
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
```Requirements```
- Proven experience as a Coding Auditor min 3 years experience
- In-depth knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10)
- Familiarity with medical billing processes and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- AHIMA Certification in medical coding (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS)
