DEFINITION
Responsible for inspection of rental properties and property maintenance complaints assuring compliance with City Codes and Ordinances. Supervised by the Codes Administrator or Deputy Codes Administrator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work involves but is not limited to the following: Inspects buildings, dwelling units and property of an assigned area to ensure compliance of property maintenance ordinances, codes and public safety. Maintains documentation of complaints, inspection reports and citations. Conducts follow-up inspections and issues corrective notices. Must exercise technical judgement and discretion based on knowledge of a wide variety of building construction and repair problems. Prosecutes code violations by preparing cases and providing testimony in Court to citations of property maintenance violations. Performs office duties such as writing letters and entering inspection data. Maintains regular, punctual and predictable attendance. Reports to work and remains at work in a productive condition which includes not being under the influence or impaired by the use of alcohol and/or drugs. Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers and the general public. Completes all assignments in an efficient, consistent and timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of building and property maintenance.
Obtain the ICC Property Maintenance Code Examination within 12 months of employment.
Valid PA Driver’s License, Class C.
