Description
**Hiring Range $54,152.00 - $64,561.00**
Performs intermediate administrative and enforcement work in the enforcement of the Town ordinances, regulations and related codes. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Planning Manager.
Examples of Duties
• Enforces the Town's Unified Development Ordinance and Code of Ordinances.
• Responds and inspects citizens' complaints regarding zoning and environmental codes.
• Detects and investigates zoning violations; resolves zoning violations through appropriate procedures.
• Identifies and researches property owners, obtains and documents evidence and prepares, issues, resolves and maintains notices of violation and other files for zoning, public nuisance, abandoned vehicles and abandoned structures.
• Conducts hearings for Code Enforcement issues, issues repair orders, files legal documents, lets bids for building demolition, hires demolition contractors, re-inspects property for compliance of codes and ordinances.
• Inspects properties, buildings, structures and new construction for compliance with applicable Town ordinances, regulations and related codes.
• Schedules and conducts meetings to provide information and guidance for code compliance and violation notices.
• Answers questions from citizens, contractors and builders concerning ordinance provisions and enforcement regulations.
• Reviews and issues sign permit applications.
• Conducts residential lot final inspections for site plan compliance.
• Works with other departmental staff to resolve and analyze complaints, violations and enforcement issues.
• Performs occasional weekend zoning compliance enforcement.
• Reviews and issues new food truck permits.
• Reviews and issues home occupation permits.
• Performs related tasks as required.
Typical Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of the Unified Development Ordinance, Sign Ordinance and related codes; thorough knowledge of the methods and procedures used in Code Enforcement; thorough knowledge of the Town's plan processing software; knowledge of GIS applications; knowledge of state Code Enforcement statutes; ability to detect zoning violations; ability to read and interpret plans; firmness and tact in enforcing zoning, sign and related ordinances and codes; ability to operate personal computer including some knowledge of applicable software packages; ability to plan work and to work independently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with property owners, contractors and the general public.
Supplemental Information
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with some experience in zoning enforcement or planning work. A degree in planning, or related field, at the two-year or four-year level, can be substituted for experience..
