Cobb Brooder House Worker
Cobb Sweetwater Farm 3718 N 495 Rd Rose, OK 74364
Work Schedule: Wednesday thru Sunday, including holidays
Hours: 7 am to 3 pm or until finished. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first.
**Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred. **
Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
Starting wage - $16.00/hour

Position Summary:
  • This position attends to and cares for day old chicks to 10 week old broilers. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Feeds and waters birds according to schedules. Monitors temperature, lights, humidity and adjusts as instructed. Cleans and disinfects waterers and pens and performs routine housekeeping duties; repairs pens and equipment (feeders, waterers, lights, fans, etc., (30%)
  • Walks floors daily; examine birds for signs of illness and treats according to instructions; pick up and dispose of mortality, loads mortality into incinerator. (20%)
  • Places pen partitions according to calculations; segregates birds according to line and age of source. Transfers birds between pens as instructed. Collects cleft pallet and fecal swabs. (20%)
  • Records information according to instructions such as line, bird weight, medications, feed & water intake, and mortality. Minor repairs on pens and equipment. (10%)
  • Assists with haul out of birds for processing and rendering. Helps with activities at the University of Arkansas Processing Plant. Helps with activities at the designated commercial hatchery on hatch day. Assists with general housekeeping/laundry. Helps with special projects as needed. (10%)

During the current Pandemic (2020), all Team Members will be required to wear company issued facial coverings. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities:
These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: inspects birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly; sanitation of breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles; properly euthanize selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (10%)
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements:
Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift using two Team Members, up to 50 pounds to move items such as partitions, boxes of chicks, etc., Must regularly push or pull up to 500 pounds (wheeled feed cart) Tools, such as shovel/pitchfork may be required move up to feed or shavings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (i.e. concrete floor, shavings); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 500 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Tools and Equipment: Tools and Equipment: Requires use of hand tools such as wire cutters, pliers, wrenches, broom, squeegee, shovel, counter, vaccination gun, stick needle, eye drop bottle, animal tag pliers; power tools such as cordless drill, gas powered back-pack blower; equipment such as dump truck, skid-steer, tractor, trailer with gas-powered sprayer, pallet jack, lawn mower and weed-eater, catch-frames, scales, tables, scanners, extension cords, coops; safe operation of vehicle to and from work area.
  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces. Also work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear are required. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.
  • Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, Bleach, Clorox wipes, Green Clean, hand sanitize, insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides, formaldehyde and pesticides.
  • Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks. Must wear company provided safety covering.

This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex. Priority consideration will be provided to these applicants first. If local Team Members are not selected, Team Members from other locations or external applicants will then be reviewed for consideration.
