Job Duties

The Department of Environmental Quality is seeking a qualified applicant to review and process Construction General Permit (CGP) registration statements; review and process CGP modifications; review and process CGP transfers; review and process CGP terminations; and prepare CGP approval packages and/or correspondence in a timely manner in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidance. This position works with clients to resolve issues effectively, openly, fairly, and consistently. In addition, this position provides support to the regional office staff regarding CGP issues, as well as provides assistance to the regulated community and citizens of the Commonwealth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of stormwater management and erosion and sediment control principles and practices gained through education and/or work experience.
  • Knowledge of water environmental statutes, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities in project management and personal computer operations (including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management).
  • Ability to read, interpret and properly apply policies, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Ability to read and evaluate permit applications and related correspondence.
  • Must be sensitive to public attitudes and concerns while effectively carrying out the agency mission.
  • DEQ certification as an Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Program Administrator or able to be obtained within 12 months of employment in the position.

Additional Considerations

  • Combination of education and training or coursework in environmental engineering, natural and physical science, or related field.
