BlueRock Therapeutics, a wholly-owned and independently operated subsidiary of Bayer AG, is a leading engineered cell therapy company using its unique cell+gene platform to direct cellular differentiation and genetically engineer cells to create a new generation of cellular medicines that address large patient populations suffering from neurological, cardiovascular, and immunology diseases.
What Are We Doing?
Our foundational science harnesses the ability to create and then direct the differentiation of universal pluripotent stem cells into authentic, functional cells that can be used as allogeneic cellular therapies to treat a broad array of diseases. We can also further engineer these cells, enabling them to produce enzymes, antibodies, and other proteins for additional therapeutic benefit.
The ideal candidate will be excited and motivated to join a team tackling new challenges, spearheading our technological and innovative advancement of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) biology, characterization, and in vitro differentiation. The individual will participate in executing experiments, keep meticulous records of experimental details, analyze datasets, and will be involved in hands-on work in developing and scaling cell therapy manufacturing processes.
The key focus of the role is to develop an end-to-end process for culturing iPCS in a 3D bioreactor platform. Maintaining key quality attributes and trouble shooting issues of large scale cell production. This exciting project will cover cell culture, Bioreactor and perfusion development work, cryopreservation and analytical assessment.
Responsibilities
- Cell culture of iPSC
- Assist in the development of a 3D Bioprocess for expanding iPCS.
- Highlight key experimental parameters and controls and
- Critically access cell quality and characteristics under various culture conditions and their potential to differentiate into Dopamine releasing neurons.
- Follow standard operating procedures and document experimental data in a timely and accurate manner.
- Analyze and Present data at internal meetings.
- Collaborate across teams and functions
Qualifications & Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university Cell Biology or Biomedical Engineering or related field of study.
- Possess the ability to work an 8-month assignment, full-time.
- Must be 18 years of age by the start of the internship/co-op.
- Must have transportation to the site in New York, NY, USA .
- This position is intended to be on-site and candidates will be informed should anything change.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills, sufficient to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Knowledge and working experience with one or more of the followings will be a PLUS:
- Experience in aseptic techniques, specifically with mammalian cell culture
- Experience with cell characterization technologies including, cell counting, metabolite analysis, light microscopy and immunoassays
- Knowledge of cell biology
- Data analysis
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across multiple functions.
