Immediate opening for a CNC Set Up/Laser Technician (3rd Shift) in San Marcos, CA who possesses:

1. At least 2-3 years of laser experience in a manufacturing environment, including set up, offset and program edit experience
2. Knowledge of reading drawings and specs with good understanding of shop math (conversions)
3. Must have experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, microscopes)
4. Advanced Windows PC or Linux skills a plus
5. Must have prior 3rd shift experience

FULL DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities:

1. Managing workload and Schedule priority
2. Starting up and or shutting down shop equipment
3. Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on Laser CNC machines
4. Responsible for loading parts, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements
5. Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or Job Travelers to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements
6. Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of production. Report all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor
7. Communicate with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other personnel for assignments and to resolve process, machining, or quality issues
8. Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly
9. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
10. Startup and Shutdown of the shop equipment
11. Full time - 40 hours, 5 days per week - May rarely include one or two weekend days per month as extra hours depending on workload

Requirements: 

• Prompt regular Attendance required
• Will need to be able to diagram a square wave and label on time/off time and duty cycle.
• Will interface with inside sales to monitor schedule, interface with engineering team
• Excellent manual dexterity required as well as an eye for visual quality and small features
• Advanced Windows PC or Linux skills a plus -  Will use MS Word, Excel, AutoCad.  Linux, Java, C++, html programming background would be a plus
• Laser Experience in a manufacturing environment, including set up, offset, and program edit experience desirable (all workstations are 2 axis X and Y only)
• Knowledge and use of precision measuring instruments - calipers, microscopes, manual CMM
• Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with a good understanding of shop math
• Must be able to follow and give written and oral instructions in English
• Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job
• This position will lead to working with the electrical and mechanical systems of the lasers and the support equipment (air compressors, water chillers, oil pumps, vacuum pumps.
• Experience operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines in a manufacturing environment, including set up, offset, changeovers, and program (edit) experience desirable.
• Knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales.
• Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with a good understanding of shop math.
• Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
• Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
• Must be willing and able to train on 1st shift if needed
• Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as but not limited to lathes and milling machines.
• Responsible for loading parts, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
• Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Measures and marks dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
• Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
• Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
• Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
• May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Pay: $19-22/Hr
