The CNC Generalist is responsible for deburring material, drilling/tapping, inserting hardware and material handling.
- Check that all safety devices/machine guarding are in place and operational.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks.
- Maintain log of preventive maintenance on daily/weekly schedule according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Set up and safe operation of various equipment including Time Saver, drill presses and Pemserter hardware inserter and hand-held grinding tools.
- Check for proper hardware, thread size, orientation, and quantity.
- Alert supervisor of any maintenance or repairs that require outside services.
- Observe tool and machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
- Notify supervisor of any problems and suggest changes that will allow jobs to run more efficiently.
- Assists other staff as needed in the various phases of the fabrication processes.
- Keep the area clean, neat and orderly to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
- Help clean up other parts of the shop when asked.
- Consider pallet weight and stacking methods to maintain safe capacity.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned to help Prescott Metal achieve its goals.
Inspection Requirements:
- Check for any material defects or damage.
- Verify quantity.
- Verify orientation.
- Inspects parts throughout the operation to assure quality and repeatability.
Physical Demands/ Work Conditions:
The Generalist stands (8-10 hours/day), walking, stooping and reaching, as well as frequently lifting manually and/or moving material up to 50 pounds.
Normal exposure production/manufacturing environment subject to dust, metal shavings, machinery oil, and powder coating.

- Safety glasses—or two forms of eye protection while operating grinders.
- Gloves when handling material.

Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required:
- HS Diploma / GED or vocational tech school.
- Strong mechanical ability.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings with training.
- Complete training on battery operated pallet jack.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and cross functional interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, initiative, and “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to work in a “team environment.”
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Interpret Job Travelers (work orders).
- Ability to identify material types and gauges of metal.
- Ability to read job specifications to determine machine adjustments.
- Ability to read tape measure and dial caliper.
