The Certified Nursing Assistant/Personal Care Assistant is a member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patients' needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities of the Certified Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Assistant include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Bathing (sponge bath, shower, tub, shampoo)
- Back rubs
- Grooming (nail filing, hair care, oral hygiene)
- Changing bed linen
- Assisting patients with dressing and undressing
- Skin care to prevent breakdown
- Assisting the patient with toileting activities
- Keeping patient's living area clean and orderly, as appropriate
- Plans and prepares nutritious meals
- Assists in feeding the patient, if necessary
- Takes and records oral and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency)
- Assists with mobility, positioning, transfers, and using transfer/mobility devices as applicable, according to the plan if care
- Assists with active and passive range of motion exercises and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency
- Assists patient in the self-administration of medication
- Does patient's laundry, as appropriate
- Meets safety needs of patients, including proper use of equipment (foot stools, side rails, etc.), maintains compliance with Maxim Falls Prevention program, Infection Control program, and patient-specific Emergency Management plan as applicable
- Reports patient's condition and significant changes to the supervising Registered Nurse
- Adherence to Maxim's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Current CNA or HHA License for the State of Florida
- Meets all training requirements in accordance with state and federal laws when applicable
- Ability to read, follow written instructions and document care given
- Possess and maintains current CPR certification in accordance with state regulation
