Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals
- Assist with mobility and transfers, using proper lifting techniques and equipment
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients
- Document patient care activities and report any changes in patient condition to the nursing staff
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant training program
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, memory care, behavioral health, or hospice care is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Skills:
- Proficiency in using computer systems for documentation purposes
- Familiarity with durable medical equipment (DME) and its proper use
- Ability to perform basic physical examinations, such as measuring height and weight
- Experience catheterizing patients is a plus
- Knowledge of working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred
