Position Summary
The Department of Neurologyis hiring for a student position to fill the role of Clinical Trials Office Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for a student employee to provide administrative support within Neurology's Clinical Trials and research division. Responsibilities include a range of basic research office activities, greeting and directing visitors, answering questions, performing data entry and/or word processing work, & assisting with departmental projects and events; communication with faculty to collect, maintain and ensure documentation is completed and signed, as well as, run various routine errands, as required for the clinic/department, as appropriate to the position. In addition, there will be opportunity to assist in providing care to patients, such as collecting vitals, perform basic research assessments, laboratory specimen processing and completing other miscellaneous clinical tasks for Neurology's Clinical Trials.
The selected student must exhibit a professional demeanor, have appropriate office etiquette, be organized and task-oriented, and must be responsible for completing assigned tasks, with accuracy, and meeting deadlines. This individual must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Typical work hours will be M-F, between the hours of 8:00AM - 5:00PM. This position would require working on-site. Work schedules are flexible and will be worked out with the supervisor before beginning employment. Must be able to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week. Minimum Qualifications:
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count).
Preferred Qualifications:
Skill in the use of operating basic office equipment, including, use of copiers, and telephones
Computer literate in Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
Word processing and data entry skills
Ability to prepare and print routine correspondence, labels, and/or other basic written material
Clear and effective oral and written communication
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot electronic devises is a plus
Experience and/or interest in conducting clinical activities is a plus
