Job description

The Susan S. Morrison School of Nursing (SON) in the Morrison Family College of Health at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, invites applicants for a 9-month Clinical Track Faculty position. Clinical Track Faculty are full-time employees with teaching, advising, service, and other program-specific responsibilities outlined at the time of appointment. We seek candidates committed to fostering inclusive learning environments, interested in working as part of an interprofessional college team, willing to develop and modify nursing curricula to support student outcomes, and eager to engage with students. Applicants for this position are hired to teach at the pre-licensure nursing level, both within a traditional BSN and accelerated MSN program. The successful applicant will teach a range of pre-licensure nursing courses, with preference given to those with content expertise in the following areas: Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Complex Nursing Care (Medical-Surgical), Health Assessment, or Skills Lab.

In 2019, the Morrison Family College of Health became the newest addition to the institution's eight schools and colleges. The college comprises several departments and schools, including the Susan S. Morrison School of Nursing, established in 2021. Minimum Qualifications: 

  • PhD (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent) in Nursing or closely related field, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent); alternatively, a candidate with an EdD, PhD in an area unrelated to Nursing is acceptable if the candidate holds a bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Nursing.
  • Must be eligible for RN licensure in the state of Minnesota.
  • Three years of experience in acute (hospital) nursing practice.
  • Prior teaching experience in academia or clinical practice. 
  • Clinical Track Faculty without a completed doctorate will have an initial appointment at the rank of Instructor with eligibility for Clinical Professor rank upon completion. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Critical care, emergency care, or medical-surgical nursing experience
  • Completion of advanced pathophysiology and pharmacology courses in an MSN or doctoral education program.
