Job description

The Clinical Services Supervisor oversees a clinical team and all operations within assigned practice pods. Duties include managing, training, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating assigned direct reports. This role is responsible for establishing goals within assigned clinical departments and creating and enforcing healthcare policy compliance. Ensures that clinical processes and procedures are implemented effectively, provides implementation insight as needed, and is responsible for communicating operational barriers/gaps among the duties and workflows of the clinical staff to the Clinical Services Manager (CSM). This role has up to 15 -20 direct reports.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Planning
  • Identifies and participates in short- and long-term goal planning for assigned clinical team.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians and staff to select appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Develops and assumes responsibility for creating applicable clinical standard work policies and procedures, provides first line implementation planning per CSM guidance.
  • Develops and implements a staffing plan, which promotes cost effectiveness and quality patient care and ensures coverage of clinic(s).
  • Works within framework of policies set forth by the facility to ensure safety, reporting any workplace safety issues or concerns to CSM.
2. Leadership
  • Provides direction and guidance to clinical team. Serves as a first line resource in all aspects of the clinic.
  • Encourages staff to participate in continuing education. Allows time for in-service education.
  • Assists staff in developing and obtaining goals- hands on support setting team up for success.
  • Encourages staff input and is receptive to suggestions of staff members.
  • Provides feedback to employees on a regular basis. Publicly acknowledges positive performance. Privately addresses employees requiring corrective action or performance support.
  • Documents safety and performance issues and maintains a working clinical diary of occurrences related to employees and operations.
  • Encourages a positive team attitude within the entire organization.
  • Promotes good communication within the department and throughout the organization.
  • Displays professionalism at work and in the community.
  • Actively participates in marketing AOC to physicians, staff and the community.
3. Management
  • Ensures timecards reflect accurate hours worked, resolving discrepancies, and timely reporting/signing of all assigned team members.
  • Ensures that employees are clearly assigned within department and job role / schedule is conveyed clearly.
  • Organizes the department workload and establishes work standards to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of all job functions throughout the clinic.
  • Adjusts priorities with a minimal amount of disruption.
  • Verifies that licenses and physical examinations are current.
  • Provides staff performance evaluations as prescribed by AOC policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes appropriate guidance and counseling techniques in personnel management to maintain an effective team.
  • Develops and reviews staffing plan to provide the appropriate number of clinical and support personnel required to deliver high quality, cost-efficient patient care.
  • Attends all management and staff meetings as required.
  • Works with Director of Quality to ensure OSHA, Fire and Disaster Plan, Infection Control, Blood Borne pathogen/OSHA regulations, HIPAA regulations are conveyed and documented accordingly for record per team member.
  • Assures that overall function of team is adhering to respective State and Federal requirements for healthcare facility and practice.
  • Assures that all equipment is maintained, functioning, and logged (recorded) as may be required.
4. Clinical
  • Evaluates and interprets the AOC’s policies and objectives to ensure compliance and a consistent quality of care.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are followed by all staff.
  • Promotes and provides a safe environment for staff and patients.
  • Supervises care of the equipment and facility to insure cleanliness, sterility, and operational ability of all equipment and supplies.
  • Plans staff schedules and daily assignments for all personnel or delegates this duty to a qualified staff member.
  • Functions as a staff fill-in (working only within licenses/certifications) when necessary to ensure patient care needs are met.
  • Assures that documentation of care is complete and accurate.
  • Communicates information to all health care team members regarding patient care and outcome.
  • Assists in development of plan for continuous improvement of patient care.
  • Works with physicians and administration to evaluate and enhance the patient experience at AOC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must hold either a CMA with 3-5 years clinical team experience – or --- hold an active LPN with 1-3 years clinical team experience. Licenses and certifications must be current with the State of Alabama.
  • Prefer a minimum of 1-3 years in a supervisorial/leadership position.
  • Must be CPR certified; ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of organizational and communication skills.
  • Must possess the physical ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours per day; bend, stoop, twist; assist patients with mobility; ability to lift up to 25 pounds and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
HIPAA RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Functions as the Privacy Officer or designates a staff member to serve as the Privacy Officer.
  • Uses and discloses Protected Health Information (PHI) according to the facility’s policies and procedures.
