Summary:
The Clinical Supervisor will perform all duties of a Registered Nurse and function as a resource person to clinical staff. The Clinical Supervisor will also act as a liaison between management and staff. The Clinical Supervisor in the office setting is a specialty requiring a variety of skills including but not limited to: registration duties, basic coding, data collection for billing procedures, maintain clinic schedules, committee work when appointed, maintain VFC program, clinic staff training, keep manager apprised of any early personnel issues.
Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Organize and assign duties and tasks to clinical team members
- Establish clinical team member monthly work schedules
- Maintain adequate clinical supplies. Establish an inventory in order to assist and promote cost effective ordering
- Assist medical assistants, nurses and providers with maintaining patient flow to ensure patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist clinical staff as needed by returning calls and completing provider orders such as med refills, referrals, performing venipunctures/fingersticks, completing lab forms, and other tests, such as urinalysis, strep test, EKG, pulse oximetry, etc.
- Serve as back up for clinical team members as needed by working as a provider’s primary assistant due to staffing needs including vacations, illness, etc.
- Conduct monthly clinical meetings in order to disseminate pertinent information
- Coordinate and Maintain VFC program.
- Prepares a weekly update sheet to cover clinic changes and coverage.
- Maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships with patients, providers, clinical and administrative team members.
- TCM calls and/or distribution of calls as the Clinical Supervisor sees fit.
- Maintenance of the emergency kit, temperature logs etc.
- Serves as a back-up when the office manager is out of the office.
- Select and train a designee to cover Clinical Supervisor if you are out of the office.
- Identify and address clinical issues that arise in boxes, patient intakes, and triaging patients with other clinical staff.
- Lead and plan training of any new clinical staff.
- Meet monthly with each provider to discuss any concerns and then address them with clinical staff.
- Head delegation of administrative tasks to clinical staff members as appropriate.
- Be lead in any emergency situations in the office.
- Run monthly chart reviews on MA’s in office to identify problems or missing information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 3 years of Supervisory experience
- A strong and positive Team Director for all members of the staff
- Should be familiar with EHR systems
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer skills
