We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Social Worker to join our team at Scripps Cancer Center. O ur diverse team is dedicated to serving the community with the highest quality of care.
The Outpatient Oncology Social Worker at Scripps plays an important role within the clinic by assisting patient and families with personal and environmental problems which predispose illness or which interfere with their obtaining maximum benefits from medical care. in a multidisciplinary team setting, the Oncology Social Worker performs psychosocial assessments with patients, identifies barriers to care, engages in case conference and peer consultation with other staff with the purpose of empowering patients and their families to better cope with cancer diagnoses and more effectively navigate the system.
An ideal candidate is self-motivated and eager to acquire new skills and knowledge. They must demonstrate abilities to collaborate with members of other disciplines in health care and maintain the highest standard of Social Work ethics and professionalism when discussing and devising solutions in supporting patients.
Sourcing
This is a Full Time, 8 hour day shift position located at the Scripps Cancer Center in the La Jolla area. Candidate must be flexible with schedule and be willing to travel to Scripps clinics located throughout the San Diego County region.
This is a philanthropy funded position for the term of four years from date of hire, with the possibility of an extension.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• Masters degree in Social Work (MSW or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) ) from an accredited University/College
• BLS for Healthcare Provider American Heart Association
- Working knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies and appeal procedures as relative to the Federal, State and other reimbursement programs
- Must be able to display good working relationships with patients, families, medical and nursing personnel, and all others employed at the hospital
- Oncology, Hematology and/or BMT experience in an Acute Care Hospital setting
- LCSW (Licensed by the State of CA Behavioral Science Examiners Board) or LMFT
- Acute Care discharge planning experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including but not limited to Outlook, Excel
