Pay Range: $ 22.92/hr - $ 26.93/hr

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Research Specialist oversees the day-to-day administrative and clerical activities of the Clinical Research Process. The Clinical Research Specialist will work closely with the Clinical Research Nurse, who manages the clinical aspect of research. They assist in the process of opening new clinical trials and cancer research throughout the organization. They participate in initiation, completion and reporting of clinical studies. They have a critical role in supporting clinical research study activities. They act as a consultant to other departments doing research. The position is project oriented, technical, informational, and responsible for ensuring the integrity, validity and timeliness of reports produced and databases maintained by the department.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
* Two years’ experience with Word, Excel and Internet access/use
* AA degree in health-related field
* Previous experience with clinical research
Desired:
* BS/BA degree in health sciences or related field
* Formal training in decision support, databases, spreadsheet, report writer, query/relational database computer software applications
* Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory issues/mandates concerning Institutional Review Board requirements
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
* Clinical Research Associate Certificate (within 18 months of hire)(dept tracks)
* Type 35 wpm (Certificate required within the last three years)
* Completion of the NIH or OHRP computer-based training program for human research protections (within 60 days of hire) (dept tracks)
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of Medical terminology and anatomy. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Must have creativity, initiative, and critical thinking skills. Must show sensitivity for the patient and maintain strict confidentiality. Must be able to work independently and pay close attention to detail. Must be self-motivated, flexible and able to effectively work with multidisciplinary teams. Skilled in the collection and analysis of data and assessing its integrity. Must be able to learn regulatory requirements of the position. Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite) and the Internet, to provide a variety of computer skills for support functions. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
