Job Summary:
This position manages and coordinatesthe timely handling of all components of Clinical Research protocols, includingpre and post research activities, internal and external to the clinicalsetting. Responsible for theimplementation and conducting of multiple research projects. Coordinates comprehensive patient protocoltreatment schedules to maintain compliance with protocol requirements. Develops effective patient recruitmentstrategies. Oversees and participates insubject recruitment, screening, scheduling, assessment, and data management fora multi-faceted investigation.
Job Responsibilities(Essential Duties):
Conducts structured clinicalinterviews and assessments of patients in research protocols. Assist in the establishment and coordinationof Clinical Research protocols and organizational structure. Coordinate the activation and maintenance ofclinical protocols, including review and completion of submissions, amendments,and adverse event reports as required by the UIC Institutional Review Board(IRB) and grant sponsors. Reviewlaboratory and clinic procedures and evaluations regularly to ensure protocolcompliance. Act as a liaison betweenstaff and the UIC IRB office, grant sponsors, and regulatory agencies to ensurepriorities are clearly communicated and resources are allocated appropriatelyacross ongoing projects. Assist thePrimary Investigator in the identification, recruitment, and enrollment ofpatients to meet Clinical Research protocol requirements. Execute informed consent process and monitorpatient status; enroll patients into research studies, explain the studies tothe patients and obtain/document proper informed consent. Ensure that patient enrollment and researchactivities comply with the established protocols, regulatory and monitoringagency standards, and grant sponsor guidelines. Assist investigator in organizing study data for grant progress reports,analysis for meeting presentations and publications.
Perform other related duties andparticipate in special projects as assigned.
Best Candidate:
This position involves conducting empirical research inclinical psychology evidence-based intervention and prevention with an emphasison dissemination, implementation, and evaluation science. This positionwill assist in various research related duties, including: a) participantrecruitment, retention, and assessment for program evaluation; b) collection,entry, cleaning, and summary of quantitative data and descriptive results; andc) development of literature reviews, program materials and resources, andscholarly presentations and/or papers; and d) coordination of research seminarfor undergraduate and graduate volunteer trainees.
Bachelor's Degree completed in Psychology, Social Workor a related social science Prior empirical research and/or federal grantexperience Prior experience with SPSS empirical research databases (REDCapexperience is a plus) Interest in urban youth and families (especially withtrauma/anxiety, substance abuse, behavioral/gang, and community violenceissues) Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to managemultiple tasks simultaneously in team setting (including work with online learningand other telehealth technology) Minimum 1-year commitment (with possibilityof renewal contingent upon successful completion of roles andresponsibilities). Fluent in Spanish
Qualifications:
Job Knowledge & Skills, Education, Experience:
Bachelor's degree in psychology orsocial work required. Master's degreepreferred.
At least one year's experience in aresearch discipline involving clinical contact with research subjectsrequired. Experience in a clinicalresearch setting, experience working with Federal Regulations and IRB'srequired. Ability to manage multipletasks. Strong interpersonal and customerservice skills. Requires excellentcommunication, organization, presentation, and computer/pc skills. Knowledge of research protocols, principles,and procedures; knowledge of aspects of clinical trials such as screening,interviewing, knowledge of computer data management; knowledge of ethics andregulatory procedures (i.e., informed consent process, data safety andmonitoring plans, principles of data collection and documentation) involvedwith clinical trials and other Clinical Research; ability to work as a memberof a project team.
