Qualifications:

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
NOTE: Applicants may have received this degree in either clinical or counseling psychology.
AND
In addition to the basic requirements, you must have:
Education:
GS-12 and GS-13: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.
Experience:
GS-12 and GS-13: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
Some examples of the qualifying experience are:
GS-12:

  • Experience in planning and performing both individual and group psychotherapy on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Experience in providing assessment and referral services for staff referred to Psychology Services by their supervisors or for staff personally requesting assistance with problems of alcohol use, drug use, or emotional problems which are affecting job performance.
  • Experience in assisting in interdisciplinary classification of inmates by identifying behavioral, emotional, organic, and personality deficiencies, or drug/alcohol habituation.
  • Experience in conducting a wide variety of interviews and crisis intervention sessions.
  • Experience in training staff in how to recognize and deal with emotional, behavioral, and personality disorders.

GS-13:

  • Experience in the administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological instruments and procedures which address the problems associated with high security inmates with antisocial attitudes and behaviors, substance abuse, and/or mental illness.
  • Experience in developing suitable program and treatment contracts for individual inmates, and having full professional responsibility and oversight for their psychological treatment plans.
  • Experience in assessing individual performance, participation, and completion of programs in each phase of the specialized treatment unit including developing new instruments to assess the target population as part of the on-going evaluation.
  • Experience in developing, evaluating and coordinating residential and nonresidential treatment program and for designing individual treatment plans.

  • Applicant must hold a full, current and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States (e.g. Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
