Job description

The Clinical Professional Development Specialist works under the general direction of the Director of Clinical Care Transformation with three primary areas of focus: clinical education, clinical competencies development and program evaluation, and clinical policy and procedure development. This position will work with clinical managers and directly with clinical staff to identify, develop, implement, and monitor clinical competencies required at time of onboarding and at least annually to support clinical workflows aligned with InterMed's strategic plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develops, designs, implements, assesses, and updates Professional Development programs to include orientation and clinical competencies that address patient population specific clinical needs and fosters the development of all clinical staff roles.
  • Researches and synthesizes current clinical guidelines and best practices published by various evidence-based sources to inform clinical practices and therefore, education and competencies.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for all InterMed clinical sites.
  • Utilizes various education principles and learning techniques to deploy training throughout the organization including training clinical preceptors at least annually and as needed.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources, clinical leaders, and clinical preceptors on completion of new hire orientation and ongoing clinical competency management.
  • Active participation and collaboration with Director of Clinical Care Transformation for the implementation and maintenance of the InterMed Clinical Transformation Ladder.
  • Serves as a change agent to transform clinical care through positive communication, collaboration, and active listening.
  • Collaborates with business intelligence to develop and monitor metrics related to training, education, and other clinical quality transformations.
  • Collaborates with the compliance department and other clinical leaders across InterMed on development of clinical policies and procedures. This also includes developing best practice guidelines and workflows to assist in translating policy and procedure to clinical practice.
  • Leads or facilitates special projects, committee assignments, and other clinical duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • BSN with at least 5 or more years of nursing experience required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered, State of Maine nursing license required.
  • Ambulatory nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with nursing, medical assistant, and LPN scope of practice preferred.
  • Experience coordinating and managing education programs or curriculum design, development and evaluation/assessment preferred.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter and ability to manage multiple tasks or projects at a time.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with electronic health records, preferably eClinical Works.
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to excel, word, and power point.
  • Flexibility, open mind, and curiosity to facilitate innovation preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement tools preferred.
  • InterMed, P.A. requires COVID-19 vaccination

SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday 40 hours per week
