Summary
- Improve the health status of Health Department clients and the general community.
- Provide appropriate health assessment, counseling and education to WIC participants.
Note: Travel required using personal vehicle.
Work hours are Mon - Fri, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
with a mandatory Saturday rotation from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. only One (1) time per month

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provides appropriate health assessment, counseling and education to WIC participants.
2. Performs nutritional assessments for WIC participants through weighing and measuring, lab work, diet assessment, and health history.
3. Interfaces with medical personnel as to appropriate nutritional care of WIC clients, and acts as a liaison to other health professional and community agencies for referral of clients.
4. Assists with patient flow and customer service in the WIC clinic
5. Provides assistance in determining WIC income eligibility as needed.
6. Acts as liaison with appropriate vendors. Maintains accurate inventory of infant formulas at WIC clinics.
7. Handles client complaints in clinic. Refers to clinic administrator when appropriate.
8. Researches and develops current nutrition and health information and develops client materials.
9. Performs community based nutrition education and outreach.
10. Performs chart audits.
11. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Public Health Department as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
NOTE: YOU MUST FILL OUT THE WORK HISTORY and EDUCATION SECTIONS OF APPLICATION TO SHOW YOU HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION AS REQUIRED BY HIRING DEPARTMENT OR BE DISQUALIFIED.
TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nutrition or Dietetics, Nutrition Science, or Home Economics with twenty-four (24) hours food and nutrition classes.
Minimum of two (2) years Clinical Nutrition experience preferred.
Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian preferred.
Bilingual preferred.
Skilled with using spreadsheets and/or word processing software.
Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment
at New Hire processing or during the promotional process.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, push and pull.
